What We Believe

As a congregation of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod, we believe, teach and confess that salvation is by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ.  We believe and teach that God’s Word is inerrant and contains both God’s Law and Gospel which are relevant for all people until the Last Day.  The mission of the Church and the reason for its existence is to proclaim both Law and Gospel to all people so that they know their sin and seek their Savior and to distribute God’s forgiveness through His Word and Sacraments.

What we believe, teach, and confess is found in Scripture and is clearly summarized in the Apostle’s, Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds…

  • That the Triune God is the only True God with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as three distinct persons in one divine being.
  • That all people are sinful by nature and that we cannot save ourselves, nor can we restore our relationship with God by making a decision for Christ or anything we do. (Rom. 3:23-24, Gal. 2:16)
  • That God desires all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:3-4)
  • That Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world and both Old and New Testaments testify of Him (John 5:39).
  • That all who by faith receive God’s promise of salvation as a free gift, will by His grace inherit eternal life (John 3:16).
  • That Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a perfect life as our substitute, suffered, was crucified and died for our sins and on the third day He rose from the grave, showing His victory over our sin, death and the devil.
  • That Jesus ascended into heaven and on the Last Day He will visibly return to judge both the living and the dead.  Then, all who believe in Jesus as their Savior will be given eternal life in heaven and all unbelievers will be condemned and will receive eternal punishment for their sins (Mt. 25:31-46, Mark 16:16).

Concerning the Sacraments we believe…

  • That baptism is instituted by God as a washing of regeneration and a renewal of the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:5) and all who are baptized receive God’s grace, the forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38), along with God’s promise of eternal life (Mark 16:16).
  • That in the Sacrament of Holy Communion, the body and blood of Jesus Christ is truly present in, with, and under the forms of bread and wine.  When received in faith and repentance, the Lord’s Supper delivers the forgiveness of sins, salvation, and eternal life.  It also serves as God’s pledge and guarantee of His forgiveness to strengthen the faith of the Christian who receives it.  But for the unrepentant and the unbeliever it will work to their spiritual harm since it provokes God’s wrath and brings His judgment upon them (1 Corinthians 11:27-32).  Therefore, out of love and concern for the well being of those who have been taught that there is no presence of Christ in this Sacrament, we refrain from communing members from all denominations until they are rightly instructed.
