This Quarter’s Outreach

Our fourth quarter outreach supports two local programs.

Contributions will go to Jamie’s Kids which is a non-profit corporation formed in 2013 to honor Jamie Jacoby. Prior to her death in July 2013 from cancer, Jamie was an elementary teacher in the Valley Grove District. She also served on the boards of the Child Development Center and the Oil Region Ballet. The mission of this non-profit is to provide assistance to hundreds of children referred by educators and community organizations annually. We rely entirely on donations and proceeds from our fundraisers. Please consider a tax deductible donation. Your donation to Christ Lutheran Church will be forwarded to Jamie’s Kids at the close of the fourth quarter. More information can be found at jamieskids.org/

Contributions will also support Santa’s Christmas Meals Service Project. Complete fixings for a Christmas dinner and breakfast are distributed to active duty or Veteran families who have been affected by economic or health issues during 2022. $45 will purchase a complete holiday breakfast and dinner for a family. Your donation to Christ Lutheran Church will be forwarded to Keystone Smiles in Knox, Pa.

Missions and Outreach

◊ Budget tithing: The congregation sets aside 10% of its annual budgeted receipts for mission support.  

  • LCMS Eastern District (4%): Assists with District operating expenses and District-funded national and international missions.
  • Social Ministry Outreach (2%):  Contributes to local support organizations and assists with local community needs, such as:  Purchase of food vouchers and/or utility bills as needed; St Elizabeth Center; Salvation Army; United Way; ABC Life Center.
  • Outreach (4%):  Supports at-large mission needs as they arise and provides matching funds for quarterly mission collections, such as Ukraine Relief. 

◊ Quarterly Mission Collections:  A mission focus is designated for each quarter and is supported through congregational giving.  Recipients in 2022:

    • Lutheran Heritage  Foundation – Translates materials such as catechisms, Bibles and children’s Bible stories into many world languages and distributes them at no cost.
    • ABC Life Center
    • Ft. Wayne, IN. Seminary Co-Op – Assistance for students and families
    • Jamies’s Kids (providing aid to local children) and Keystone Smiles “Santa’s Meals.”

◊ Additional outreach collections:

  • Support-the-Troop’s: Collected needed items for our military troops.
  • “Samaritan’s Purse”/ Operation Christmas Child:  Shoe-box gift packages for children.
  • In the photos below shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child are being taped, prayed over and loaded for delivery. These boxes will be added to thousands of others and put into the hands of kids around the world. The kids will receive small gifts along with the Good News of Jesus!
